Quite unusual for a far-away, fiction-loving fanatic, this is the second self-help book Iโve read this month. Written and approached with a surgeonโs logical and meticulous mind, Gawande turns a 200 page book about checklists and why we need them into an important and relevant read. Simply, Gawande reinforces the universal fact that having comrehensive checklists in place reduces the number of unforeseen incidents. It may seem a pointless and boring read but itโs not when Atul presents you with countless fascinating glimpses into near-death experiences in operating theatres across the world and avoided freak accidents in aviation. No matter your profession, I highly recommend this book to one and all - the practical value-add to our increasingly complex lives is worth it!
