I was recommended Garth Stein’s The Art of Racing in the Rain when I was on the hunt for a book that wasn’t too intellectual or taxing a read, and it is just the ticket. Told through the eyes of the family dog this book recounts a family’s story through all the happy, hard and heartbreaking times. This is one of those books that has stayed with me since I read it over 3 years ago and I still constantly recommend it to people on the hunt for a great read. There have been very few books I have enjoyed reading as much as this one (or that made me cry quite so much). If you are looking for a book that will take your mind off everything and give you a non-conventional look at life, this is for you.
