The only way to start this review is with a warning to future readers: at best it will make you rethink preconceived ideas you have held since birth, at worst you'll be monumentally offended. Everyone will be somewhere on that scale but regardless, everyone should read this book. You'll turn the first page thinking you are part of an elite master species - you'll turn the last knowing just how wrong you were. Between those pages you'll learn that humankind as we know it is microscopic in comparison to the titanic history that precedes us. If you let him, Yuval Noah Harari will tell you why equality is a myth, why the creator of the atomic bomb deserves the Nobel Peace Prize and why you, and I, are simply animals who became God. I left this book with an urgent feeling that every single one of us have a responsibility to make sure that we, a relatively new inhabitant of this wonderful Earth, do not end 4.5 billion years of history.
