I feel like this is everything a romance novel should be. It had the right amount of everything. It was sweet. When I first started reading, I was like ugh Mack is gonna be a typical obnoxious dude but he turned out to be the total opposite and an actual sweetheart.
Cleo writes a dating column and is sent to a remote Irish island by her manager to โmarry herselfโ for her 30th birthday. Life on Salvation Island is the complete opposite to her busy London life but at least itโs a chance to enjoy a luxury cabin and enjoy some quiet time while she figures out her next move.
Mack is also looking for some quiet time away from his life in Boston. His life is somewhat falling apart and he needs an escape. A mix-up means both Cleo and Mack are booked into the cabin, and theyโre both unsure of how theyโre going to cope however as the days go on, they seem to enjoy each otherโs company.
It wasnโt a typical romance novel, it felt very real! You learn to love both Cleo and Mack who are on their own individual self-care journeys! Apart from Cleo and Mack you also learn to love the other characters in the book who just made Salvation Island seem so homely and comforting! This book was so much better than I thought it was going to be.
