I LOVED this book - I was gripped from the off and couldn't put it down. Magpie is an enthralling, stylish and emotionally engaging thriller centering on three people who are thrown together by circumstance and their lives begin to take a dark turn (trying not to spoil too much...). The twists and turns are beautifully paced and fabulously written by Elizabeth Day and her ability to write character is magnificent. What really struck me was how Day enables us to empathise with all the characters - even if at times you'd rather not! The exploration of severe mental ill-health both on the sufferer and those around them was done deftly and with an empathetic hand and it was this exploration that really made an impact on me throughout the novel.

I have been recommending this book to everyone recently and I will do the same for all of you as well - if you haven't yet (where you been??) go and buy this book, it's a corker!
