Chris Cleave is one of those authors who spins dark humor so purposely in his prose you’re never sure if you’re reading tragedy or comedy. But it’s necessary - without it, the book would be incredibly hard to swallow. The prose is beautiful and poetic and excruciating. Cleave writes a woman’s voice so well that you forget it’s a male author. It’s a book you come out of different, that affects your entire weekend. I definitely give this a 5!
